 | Dr. James Marcus was one of the founding three members of the Umbrella Corporation, along with Ozwell E. Spencer and Edward Ashford. Together, the three found the virus that would become a precursor to the T and G-Viruses, Progenitor, in the heartlands of Africa. Not long after the group founded to corporation, Marcus became the first facility manager of the Umbrella Training Facility. A decade following, Marcus successfully develops the T-Virus from the Progenitor virus, but his turbulent relationship with Umbrella, but most especially Spencer, lead to her assassination ordered by Spencer, at the hands of Albert Wesker, in 1988. A "clone" of Marcus appeared ten years later, only months before the T-Virus would leak into the heart of Raccoon City, and planned to take it's revenge on Umbrella for assassinating him. Commanding an army of leaches, Marcus destroyed the Ecliptic Express, infecting all on board, even managing to infect the Training Facility not far away. He was dispatched by Billy Coen and S.T.A.R.S. member, Rebecca Chambers, after mutating into the Queen Leech.
