 | The only child of Umbrella scientists, Annette and William Birkin. Sherry's parents were always too busy with their work to pay their daughter any attention. William worked feverishly on the creation of the G-Virus, while Annette helped him every step of the way. While her parents both loved her deeply, they took her for granted, accusing her of being "childish" when she wanted attention. Proof of Annette's affection for her daughter, when Raccoon City fell and became victim to both the T and G-Viruses, she told her young daughter to head to the police station, because she thought it would safe. She was wrong, as so many others were, and Sherry spent the long night of September 29th 1998 running for her life in a police station full of dead officers, undead monsters, and a vicious G-Creation, that she was unaware was her father, who had fallen victim to his own virus. Sherry was rescued and kept safe by Claire Redfield, and the two eventually managed to escape to the sewers, and eventually to a train heading out of the city, with one of the only surviving R.P.D. officers, Leon S. Kennedy. As Claire broke off from them to continue her search for her brother, Sherry held Claire's last words to her in high regard, that she was going to come back for her. Leon and Sherry were then taken into Government custody, where Leon was offered a job, leaving Sherry all alone once again. Her mother died that night in Raccoon City, and Claire never came back for her. While her current whereabouts are unknown, it can be assumed she was released from Government custody following her 18th birthday.
